The quickest way to learn livehuddle is to open a Space and walk round it. This walkthrough takes you from a new Space to a board your team can meet at. You do not need to sign in, the Space always works as a guest.
Open a Space
Open a new Space. The New Space window opens: "A place for your team to meet, plan and run sessions." There is nothing to choose yet.
It shows what Create makes: a Blank Space that opens on its start, with templates and the session tools ready. Under "Templates on its start" it names the first Virtual Spaces waiting there (Virtual Office, Coworking Space and Team Pod), and sessions to run.
Under that, Sync Space to Server says where the new Space will be saved. It starts on once you have signed in (saved to your account, on every device) and off while you try things out as a guest (saved in this browser only). Flip it before you create if you want the other place; you can also move a Space later. When you start from a folder or a team, the Space goes there and the switch is not shown.
Press Create. The Space is called "Untitled Space" and Default Folders decide which folder it lands in. Skip makes the same blank Space with its start closed, Open Existing Space opens the Explorer instead, and the × (or Esc) backs out without making anything.
The empty board opens on Start a Space: the Virtual Spaces first (Virtual Office, Coworking Space, Team Pod and All-Hands Hall), then the session templates by category, with a search. Pick Team Pod to follow along, or close it with the × to start from an empty board.
You can rename the Space later: click its title in the header at the top of the editor and type. Renaming is instant and saved for you. Names cap at 60 characters: typing simply stops there, which is plenty for a title and short enough to stay readable in a tab bar or a list row.
Walk in
A board from the Spaces opens with you walking: you are in Avatar mode, as a little character standing just below the board's Walk In button.
Click anywhere on the floor and your character walks there, or hold the arrow keys to steer it. Walk onto a chair or a desk and it sits down; press an arrow key to stand.
Press Enter to say something: a speech bubble opens over your head, and everyone in the
Space sees it float up. Press Space to hop and wave a flag.
Your character is yours to dress: the Avatar button beside Undo and Redo opens its outfit, hair and size. Its shirt is always your participant colour, so everyone can tell which one is you.
To stop walking and work on the board, pick Select from the Selection Mode menu at the left of the palette, or press V. The board's Walk In button (or W) puts you back on your feet.
Put something on the board
Find the Palette, the strip across the top of the canvas. Popular holds what a session is most often run with: a square, a sticky note, text, a frame, an arrow and an image, then the session kit.
Click the Sticky note tile, then click the board where you want it: it drops there, ready to type into. Or drag the tile straight onto the board. Drop a few for the team's ideas.
When the room is ready to decide, start a Vote or a Timer from the Session strip, and everyone's dots and the countdown appear for the whole room. See Session Tools.
Invite the team
You now have a Space with something on the board. From here:
- Share the link. Hand a colleague a link and their character walks into the same Space. See Sharing Your Space.
- Run the session with the Session tools: a timer and a quick vote.
- Move and multi-select. Drag to reposition; drag on an empty part of the board to marquee-select several elements at once, or Shift-click to add one at a time.
Made a mistake? Undo and Redo sit in the controls in
the bottom-right corner (or press Cmd/Ctrl+Z), and the common keyboard shortcuts are in
Keyboard Essentials.
